Dr. Albert Frimpong Becomes First Visually Impaired PhD Graduate from UGBS

Dr. Albert Frimpong has become the first visually impaired PhD graduate from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS). Dr. Frimpong, a distinguished legal professional and dedicated public servant, successfully defended his thesis titled, “The Upstream Petroleum Policy Formulation in Ghana: The Relative Weight Between Science and Politics in Shaping the Process”. He was supervised by Prof. James Kwame Mensah, Prof. Abdul-Gagaru Abdulai, and Prof. Ameyaw K. Domfeh.

Penn State Harrisburg Explores Collaborative Opportunities at the University of Ghana Business School

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) hosted a delegation from Penn State Harrisburg on 10th February 2025 to discuss potential areas of collaboration and partnership. The delegation comprised Prof. Peter B. Idowu- Director of PPL Electric Utilities Power Lab, Dr. Sylvester Osagie- Associate Director for African Partnerships, and Mr. Mel White- Senior Director for Special Projects and Coordination. 

UGBS Organises Ethical Leadership Conference for Student Leaders

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) organised a one-day Ethical Leadership Conference on 7th February 2025 at the R. S. Amegashie Auditorium. The conference was themed “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Ethics as the Foundation of Leadership”. It was an initiative of Prof. Justice N. Bawole, Dean of UGBS, and was sponsored by the Education Collaborative.

UGBS BHJCR Hosts Second Edition of Women Empowerment Summit

On 6th February 2025, female leaders of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Business House Junior Common Room (BHJCR) in collaboration with Polygynax organised the second edition of the Women Empowerment Summit. The event, themed “Women Rising: Defining Leadership & Shaping Careers” took place at the R.S. Amegashie Auditorium.

UGBS Associate Professor, Kobby Mensah Appointed CEO of Ghana Tourism Development Company

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Associate Professor of Marketing, Kobby Mensah, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC). Prof. Mensah’s appointment as CEO of GTDC is expected to bring a strong academic and strategic perspective to the development of Ghana’s tourism industry. His extensive experience in marketing, policy engagement, and brand positioning aligns with GTDC’s mandate to drive tourism investments and enhance sector efficiency. 

UGBS Alumni Association Holds Handover Ceremony

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Alumni Association held a handing-over ceremony on 31st January 2025 at the Executive Hall, UGBS. The event was moderated by the School Administrator, Mr. Emmanuel Poku-Sarkodee, who also introduced the newly elected executives. The ceremony was chaired by Prof. William Coffie, Head of the Department of Accounting. 

UGBS and Department of Economics Introduce BoG Chair to Bank of Ghana Governors

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and the Department of Economics at the University of Ghana have officially introduced the first Bank of Ghana (BoG) Chair in Finance and Economics, Prof. Imhotep Y. P. Alagidede, to the Bank’s governors. The introduction took place on 29th January 2025, at the Bank of Ghana premises with key officials, including Dr. Ernest Addison, Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari, First Deputy Governor and Chair of the University of Ghana’s College of Humanities Board, and Mrs.

UGBS Accounting Students Association Host Seminar on Accounting and ESG Practices

On 22nd January 2025, the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Accounting Students Association (ASA), in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG) and Makers and Partners Chartered Accountants, have organized a seminar on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices for a sustainable future at the R. S. Amegashie Auditorium.
