I am most privileged for the opportunity to lead the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and I accept this with profound sense of obligation to continue the good works done by my predecessors. As we all recognize, both the local and global business environments have become very turbulent and indeed ever changing very quickly. Business education must therefore continuously evolve to confront this rapidly changing business environment. Business Schools must therefore be forward looking, proactive and responsive if they are to be relevant to businesses in their respective economic environments.
One way of staying relevant is to attract faculty with strong research orientation and whose research can be ground breaking and industry problem solving. I am happy to indicate that UGBS has attracted the most talented faculty with extraordinary capacity for research and extension, making our programs more and more attractive than ever before. There is evidence that the number of lecturers attending international conferences to present their research output has increased tremendously. Faculty teaching has received both local and international recognition and reputation as many of our courses are patronized by international students from the sub-region as well as students from elsewhere outside the sub-region.
I am also happy to say that our international links have grown tremendously. Many international universities and tertiary institutions have established links with UGBS. Indeed, the number of visiting professors of international reputation to the School has increased tremendously with their period of stay ranging from one week to one year. In all these, students and faculty have benefited from the interaction and the networking resulting thereof.
