UGBS Professor of Public Administration, Abdul-Gafaru Abdulai, Has Urged a Rethink on How Oil Revenues are Allocated

On 10th June 2025, Prof. Abdul-Gafaru Abdulai of the Department of Public Administration at the University of Ghana Business School, delivered a research presentation assessing the regional distribution and developmental impact of Ghana’s oil-funded investment, over a decade since the country began commercial oil production at the Cedi Conference Centre, University of Ghana.

HBCU Africa Education Coalition Explores Collaboration with UGBS

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) hosted a delegation from the HBCU Africa Education Coalition on Monday, 3rd June 2025, to discuss potential avenues for collaboration between the two institutions. The meeting was held at the UGBS New Conference Room with the Coalition’s Executive Director, Dr. Beverly Amman Booker, and Board Chairman, Mr. Mark Brinkley, 3GC. 

UGBS and Maxwell Investment Group Limited Sign MoU to Support Students and Youth Development

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maxwell Investment Group and its key partner organisations on 3rd June 2025. The signing ceremony took place at the UGBS Conference Room and was led by the Dean of UGBS, Prof. Justice Bawole. It brought together stakeholders from academia, international development agencies, the private sector, and civil society organisations to help students gain more practical knowledge, job opportunities, and skills for the future. 

University Council Approves Promotions of Dr. Acheampong Owusu and Dr. Amewu to the rank of Associate Professors

The University of Ghana (UG) Appointments Board, at its meetings held on 15th April and 13th May 2025, on behalf of the Council, has approved the promotion of Dr. Acheampong Owusu and Dr. Amewu to the rank of Associate Professors. Prof. Acheampong Owusu holds a PhD in Information Systems with a focus on Business Intelligence Systems from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Malaysia, while Prof. Godfred Amewu holds a PhD in Finance from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.

A Historic First: Ernest Yaw Tweneboah-Koduah Becomes Dean of West Africa’s Foremost Business School

In a momentous chapter in the history of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Professor. Ernest Yaw Tweneboah-Koduah has been appointed Dean. He takes over from Prof. Justice Nyigmah Bawole, who has anchored the business school on a very strong footing in a successful two-term administration, achieving major milestones in the school’s history. Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah is the first faculty member of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship to ascend to this prestigious position.

UGBS and CIHRM Launch Fundraising and Institutionalisation Activities for Ghana’s First HR Professorial Chair

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management Ghana (CIHRM-G), officially launched fundraising and institutionalisation activities for the establishment of Ghana’s first-ever Professorial Chair in Human Resource Management on 13th May 2025. This historic event took place at the R.S Amegashie Auditorium of UGBS and brought together stakeholders from academia, industry, and the wider human resource (HR) fraternity. 

UGBS to Partner with the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment and the British Council to Boost Youth Entrepreneurship

On 2nd May 2025, the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) engaged with the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment and the British Council to discuss how universities can support the growth of young entrepreneurs for national development and explore potential collaboration. The meeting at the Dean’s office was part of ongoing efforts to get universities involved in nurturing young entrepreneurs. 

UGBS Associate Professor, Patience A. Abor, Delivers Guest Lecture on Ghana’s Health System at Chester Business School, UK

Prof. Patience Aseweh Abor, an Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), delivered a guest lecture at Chester Business School, United Kingdom, in the first quarter of the year, 2025. The lecture was titled “An Overview of the Health System in Ghana” and was delivered to the October and February cohorts of the MSc. Health Service Management programme. It was organised as part of Prof. Abor’s ongoing sabbatical engagement with the University of Chester. 

UGBS Alumni Pays Courtesy Visit to NITA Acting Director General, Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor

A delegation from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Alumni Association paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor, Acting Director General of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), on 30 April 2025. The purpose was to congratulate him on his appointment formally and extend the support of the alumni community. The visit, which took place at NITA’s head office, was led by Ms. Afia Benewaa Domfeh, Alumni Relations Officer at UGBS.
