University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Hosts Training Session on Presentation Skills for Secretaries and Unit Heads

On Wednesday, 4th September 2024, the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) held a training session for Secretaries and Unit Heads on the theme “Presentation Skills for Professional Impact”. The event occurred at the ICT Lounge, UGBS Graduate Campus, and focused on enhancing participants' presentation and professional communication skills.

The session was led by Mr. Emmanuel Poku-Sarkodee, School Administrator, and Mr. Gabriel Joel Quainoo, Webmaster at UGBS. Mr. Poku-Sarkodee, in the first session, emphasised the importance of knowing one’s audience, stating that tailoring the content and delivery to resonate with listeners is essential for impactful communication. He highlighted key elements of effective presentations, including body language, writing skills, and appearance, stressing that dressing appropriately and speaking confidently contribute to a speaker’s credibility.


In the second session, Mr. Quainoo provided a hands-on tutorial on creating good PowerPoint presentations. He covered areas like formatting, theme selection, and key design elements leading to professional presentations. 


In conclusion, participants were actively engaged in practical exercises, applying the skills they had learned leaving them better equipped with essential presentation skills, improved work ethics, and a deeper understanding of professional communication, to make a positive impact in their respective roles.
