University of Oregon Explores Collaboration with the University of Ghana Business School

A delegation from the University of Oregon recently visited the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) to explore potential collaborations between the two institutions. The discussions focused on academic partnerships, faculty exchanges, and collaborative research. 

During the meeting, Prof. Gordon Abekah-Nkrumah, Department of Health Services Management, provided an overview of UGBS, its history, the variety of programmes offered, the student population, and the multiple campuses across Ghana. He also detailed the operations of the various departments within the business school and its international relations portfolio. 

On behalf of the University of Oregon, Prof. Michael Pangburn introduced their institution and spoke about the programmes offered. He mentioned that their visit to Africa is centred around exploring new opportunities, facilitating faculty exchanges, sharing skill sets, and building lasting collaborations between both faculties. 

Prof. H. Leslie Steeves, Senior Associate Dean for Academics at the University of Oregon, expressed the delegation’s interest in collaborating on projects, exposing students to the African market structure, and creating opportunities for students to work together to address global challenges. 

The discussions further delved into potential research collaborations, particularly those that could attract PhD students from both institutions. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is currently under review to formalise the partnership, with further engagements set to continue.
