UGBS Professor of Health Services Management, Roger Atinga, Appointed Board Chair of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG)
Prof. Roger Atinga, a professor and researcher in the Department of Health Services Management at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has been appointed as the Board Chair of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG). Prof. Atinga’s appointment is based on his significant contributions to CHAG as a former board and technical committee member, his extensive experience in Ghana’s healthcare system, and his deep understanding of healthcare governance and policy. His research in health policy, management, and systems evaluation has also been instrumental in improving healthcare delivery in Ghana and beyond.
Prof. Atinga has over a decade of experience in designing and implementing global health projects. In addition to his role at UGBS, Prof. Atinga is an Adjunct Professor at New York University and a Visiting Lecturer at the University for Development Studies, Ghana. He has led several funded research projects for international and national organisations, including Chemonics International Inc, World Health Organization (WHO), USAID, Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition, Ghana Integrity Initiative (Transparency International Ghana), National Health Insurance Authority, and Ghana Coalition of Health NGOs.
Prof. Atinga has also served on expert panels and policy review teams, including WHO Technical Meetings on Building Resilient Systems for Health in Ebola-affected countries (Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea), Ghana Ministry of Health’s Primary Health Care Policy Review Team, National Health Insurance Authority Stakeholders Consultative Programmes. He is an active member of several professional networks, including, the West Africa Network of Emerging Leaders for Health Policy, Systems, and Practice (WANEL), Health Systems Global, African Health Economics and Policy Association, Emerging Voices for Global Health, based at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium.
CHAG is a network organisation of 374 health facilities and health training institutions owned by 34 Christian Church denominations. The association delivers affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare to all, particularly to underserved populations in remote and deprived communities. UGBS is proud of Prof. Atinga’s achievements and congratulates him on this significant milestone.
