Michael Effah Asamoah

Michael is an astute academic who teaches modules in accounting and finance. Before joining the University of Ghana Michael has taught accounting and finance at Ashesi University, Central University and Lancaster University, Ghana. Michael has enormous research experience through peer-reviewed publications, with much of his publications focus broadly on accounting, finance, insurance, and economics. Michael’s research interest is in international trade, with a significant focus on private capital flows and issues bordering on real sector growth, domestic resources mobilization, macroeconomic (in)stability, institutional quality, development finance and interventions to promote development in developing countries. Among his cited works include Private capital flows, real sector growth and institutional quality in Africa; FDI, macroeconomic uncertainty and institutions in Africa; FDI and natural resources in Africa; Intellectual Capital and profitability; Intellectual capital and asset quality. Michael’s research studies have appeared in reputable journals such as Journal of International Development, Review of Development Economics, Economic Systems, Journal of Economic Studies, Research in International Business and Finance.

Michael has a BSc in Administration (Accounting option), and MPhil in Finance from the University of Ghana. He also holds a PhD in accounting and finance from University of The Witwatersrand, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) from The Lancaster University, UK. Michael is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana). He is also an examiner for the Institute.
