University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Hosts Rutgers University for Potential Collaborations

On Monday, 9th September 2024, Rutgers University visited the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) to explore potential partnerships. The meeting, held at the Dean’s Office, included distinguished delegates from Rutgers University, led by Dr. Jimmy Jung, Senior Vice Chancellor, and Mr. Christian Aduama both representing Rutgers University.

Prof. Elikplimi Komla Agbloyo, Department of Finance, UGBS, gave an overview of the school’s programmes and resources, emphasising the school’s openness to future collaborations. He highlighted opportunities in joint research grants, as well as faculty and student exchanges.
Dr. Jung conveyed Rutgers University’s interest in expanding its partnerships with the University of Ghana Business School, noting that Rutgers University is AACSB accredited, which provides a strong foundation for collaboration.

Prof. Gordon Abekah-Nkrumah, Department of Health Services Management, UGBS, highlighted other possible areas including 1+1 programmes for PhD students, these programmes would allow students to spend a semester or two at Rutgers, benefitting from their resources and research expertise. 
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Jung proposed that Rutgers University would revive the old Memorandum of Understanding which had expired, by adding an addendum to expedite the process. However, he emphasised that beyond signing agreements, the focus should be on practical, actionable activities that benefit both Universities.

Registrar, Academic Affairs (Undergraduate & Affiliate Units), UGBS, Ms. Maureen Balogun, International Relations Officer, UGBS and Mr. David Odjeawo, Librarian, UGBS.
