UGBS Welcomes 1985 Year Group Representative for Preliminary Alumni Engagement

On Monday, 28th April 2025, the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) welcomed Mr. Kweku (Yoku) Baa Korsah, a distinguished alumnus and representative of the 1985-year group, for a preliminary engagement towards supporting the school’s development. The engagement took place in the Dean’s Office, chaired by the Head of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Ernest Yaw Tweneboah-Koduah, alongside the Head of the Department of Finance, Prof. Vera Fiador, the School Administrator, Mr. Emmanuel Poku-Sarkodee, and Assistant Registrars, Ms. Catherine Emefa Aziaku and Ms. Saratu Salifu.

During the engagement, Mr. Korsah expressed the 1985-year group's intent to give back to the school, formerly known as the School of Administration, in commemoration of 40 years since their graduation. “Our year group left the School of Administration in 1985, and we figured that it’s 40 years on, so we should find a way of giving back to UGBS, and that's really what we are here to discuss. We want it to be both a material donation and an ongoing engagement where professionals can interact with students and faculty,” he stated.

He further noted that the group is particularly interested in supporting the academic environment by enhancing lecture room facilities to aid teaching and learning. “We are looking at how we can support the lectures in doing the job by looking at the lecture rooms and how we could enhance them. We are trying to figure out what works best, so this is a preliminary engagement, and we will go back, do our homework and then come and make some concrete proposals,” Mr. Korsah added.

Following the meeting, the UGBS team led Mr. Korsah on a tour of selected lecture halls to assess areas that could benefit from the alumni’s support. This familiarisation tour aimed to provide insights that will inform the 1985-year group's next steps in formalising their proposals. The University of Ghana Business School expresses its profound appreciation to Mr. Korsah and the 1985-year group for their thoughtfulness and commitment to enhancing the learning experience for current and future students.
