On Friday, 10th November 2023, Prof. Elikplimi Komla Agbloyor, an Associate Professor of the Department of Finance at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) spoke on the application of Artificial Intelligence in Finance. The seminar was to enlighten students on the rapid increase of technology and how the upcoming workforce can catch up with modern technological advancement.

On 30th November 2022, Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor and Professor Charles K.D Adjasi launched a book at the Best Western Premier Hotel, Accra. The book titled “The Economics of Banking and Finance in Africa: Development in Africa’s Financial Systems,” was published by Palgrave Macmillan (Springer Nature) and co-edited by the two eminent Professors of Finance.
Professor Vera Ogeh Fiador (née Soli) has been appointed as the first female Associate Professor of Finance. This promotion comes after 75 years since the establishment of the University of Ghana (UG) and 60 years since the UG Business School (formerly the School of Administration) was established.
Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor has been appointed as Afreximbank Research Fellow for one year, 2022/23.
The one-year Research Fellowship awarded by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) provides Professor Abor the opportunity to undertake relevant research and contribute to the Bank’s intellectual leadership in fulfillment of its mandate. He will spend the year visiting and working with the Research & International Co-operation (RICO) Department of the Bank.

Allianz has appointed Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor as Board Chairman of Allianz Life Insurance Company Ghana. His appointment as an Independent Non-Executive Director was approved by the National Insurance Commission in August 2022. As a director, he has a tenure of 5 years, but his role as board chair has no expiration. He takes over from Mr. Kofi Ampim, who passed away in January 2021.
