UGBS Student, Ms. Belinda Odae, Participates in the 2024 Berlin Global Dialogue (BGD) Programme

 

Ms. Belinda Odae, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) student specialising in Health Services Management at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), participated in the 2024 Berlin Global Dialogue held from 1st to 2nd October 2024 in Berlin, Germany. The dialogue was themed, “Building Common Grounds”. It brought together world leaders, policymakers, and business executives to explore collaborative solutions to pressing global challenges. Ms. Odae had the opportunity to represent UGBS in conversations focused on Africa’s role in sustainable development and the future of its economies. 

Ms. Odae attended impactful sessions, including “Financing the Future of Africa and Global Competition for Workforce: Making Migration a Win-Win Situation.” These discussions explored innovative financing models, the need for increased domestic investment in Africa, and policy strategies to manage migration while building Africa’s skilled labour force.

She also joined fellow Young Voices in interactive sessions with global business leaders, including Mr. Sten Ola Källenius (CEO of Mercedes-Benz), Prof. Lars-Hendrik Röller (Chairman of Berlin Global Dialogue), and Dr. John Andrew Forrest (Executive Chairman of Fortescue). The conference concluded with a keynote address by French President Emmanuel Macron, who called for a stronger, more united Europe with deeper engagement with Africa and emerging markets. 

Ms. Odae expressed gratitude for the exposure, stating that the experience enriched her understanding of global policy dynamics and leadership. “The knowledge and networks I gained in Berlin will be instrumental in shaping my contributions to healthcare management and sustainable development in Africa,” she noted. She also extended appreciation to Prof. Elikplimi Agbloyor, Coordinator, IR, for his nomination and support and to the UGBS International Relations Office and ESMT Berlin for facilitating and funding her participation.
