UGBS in Partnership with NovaSphere- Canada holds the MRV for Climate Action Workshop

The University of Ghana Business School in partnership with NovaSphere in Canada held a three-day Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) Climate Action workshop at the UGBS Graduate School. The workshop was a south-south collaboration with the support of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso Chile to enhance countries’ capabilities to plan, scale, implement and monitor local climate actions to achieve national targets in Liberia, Togo, the Gambia, and Ghana. In attendance also were delegates from Canada, Italy, and the USA. Government officials, academicians, civil servants, and policymakers from each of the countries convened to exchange insights on communication strategies and participation in climate action for global development.

The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of UGBS, Prof. Justice N. Bawole. He welcomed the participants and highlighted the impactful contributions of the Business School in the country and beyond. He also urged attendees to seize the opportunity to explore and experience Ghana’s historic places.

Throughout the workshop, the representatives of the participating countries engaged in group projects, discussions, and presentations of the outcomes to all present. The MRV for Climate Action group project presentations aimed to partner countries on national development priorities and capacities to plan, finance, and achieve Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reductions and the implementation of low-carbon solutions to local development challenges.

The second day of the MRV for Climate Action workshops commenced with a recap of the previous day’s activities with participants having the opportunity to share various ideas and lessons learned.
