
UGBS Financial Awareness Association Visits GB Foods on an Industrial Tour
On the 10th and 11th of July, GBfoods Ghana hosted students from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) in a two-day industrial visit designed to bridge academic learning with industry practice. The event brought together two key student groups over the two days: Day 1 was for Finance Students Association (FINSA), and Day 2 was for Financial Awareness Financial Literacy Association, UG Chapter (The FA). The programme was coordinated by the Association’s Coordinator, Dr. Benjamin Amoah, and Presidents, Mr. Obed Donkor of The FA Association Chapter and Ms. Priscillia Dele Ogor, the President of FINSA.
Each session was curated to deliver a unique and immersive learning experience focused on corporate finance, business strategy, culture, and career development. The programme opened with remarks and welcome from Ms. Linda Aryee, HR Director at GBfoods Ghana, who introduced students to the company’s purpose, values, and people philosophy.
Mr. Christian, General Services and People Experience Manager, followed with a session on GBfoods’ corporate culture. He emphasized the company's commitment to a people-first and entrepreneurial mindset, highlighting traits such as urgency, customer and consumer obsession, risk-taking, and the values that guide the organization - authenticity, ownership, joy, and proximity. He also shared how culture influences the way GBfoods operates, serves consumers, and drives innovation.
Also, Mr. Sekyi stated that the company is committed to environmental sustainability and responsible business practices. Mr. Sekyi also spoke about how to succeed in a career, build credibility, and succeed in demanding work environments. Mr. Sekyi mentioned that building a career is a journey that requires patience, commitment, and the courage to keep learning. He encouraged the audience not to fear transitioning into roles outside their core field but to see them as opportunities to develop broader skills and to show adaptability. He encouraged them to embrace every experience, whether it was their dream role or a stepping stone, and to remember that growth often comes from unexpected places. He stated that career success is built not just on what you know, but on how you use what you know and how willing you are to learn more.

Finance Insights Presentations A key part of the program featured three in-depth presentations from GBfoods' finance team, each addressing a core component of financial management: The Strategy & Cost Control – by Mrs.Jemima Attamah (Commercial Business Partner), who shared how strategic alignment and cost discipline support sustainable commercial success. Financial Planning & Budgeting – by Mr. Michael Owusu Ansah (Operations Business Partner), who detailed the budgeting process and how planning supports performance and decision-making. Financial Sustainability & Risk Management – by Mr. Razak Abdul (Senior Finance Officer), who explained how prioritizing obligations and managing risk ensures the long-term stability of the business. The three presenters also led a Career Pathway Sharing segment, where they offered personal reflections and guidance on navigating careers in finance. They emphasized the importance of adaptability, lifelong learning, and taking ownership of one’s career growth - skills that are vital in today’s evolving business landscape.
Following the presentations, a Q&A session - moderated by Mr. Sekyi - allowed students to ask questions, clarify concepts, and interact freely with the presenters. Students were then taken on a guided facility tour providing an opportunity to see Gbfoods Ghana’s operational environment.
The visit concluded with networking and career conversations, hosted by Bridget (HR Business Partner – Commercial), together with the HR teams and members of the Finance team. These sessions explored: Entry pathways into GBfoods (internships, graduate programs, student ambassador roles),Practical tips for transitioning from school to work and The importance of aligning values, skills, and personal growth.The programme ended with group photos, lunch, and informal networking, leaving the students with valuable insights and a clearer perspective on how business, finance, and people strategies converge in a real-world setting. Through this two-day engagement, GBfoods Ghana strengthened its commitment to youth development, and fostering meaningful connections between industry and academia, positioning itself as a great place to work,grow and belong for the next generation of professionals.
