UGBS and the University of Manchester sign an MOU

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and the University of Manchester have solidified their collaboration through a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 26th March 2024 at the University of Ghana’s New Council Chamber. The signing ceremony was chaired by Prof. Gordon A. Awandare, Pro Vice-Chancellor- Academic and Students Affairs, University of Ghana. The Associate Vice-President-Internationalisation of the University of Manchester, Prof. Stephen Flint was also present. Representing the dean of UGBS, Dr. Emmanuel Sarpong-Kumankoma, the Head of the Department of Finance at UGBS delivered the purpose of the meeting highlighting the importance of formalising existing collaborations to facilitate deeper engagements. Prof. Stephen Flint expressed delight in managing trust and friendship to facilitate the partnership between the two institutions.

In attendance also were representatives from both Universities including, Prof. E.Y. Tweneboah-Koduah - Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Elikplimi Komla Agbloyor- Department of Finance, Mrs. Barbara Kuukua Blankson- Senior Assistant Registrar- IPO, Dr Elizier Ameyaw- Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Mr. Isaac Ato- Brown- Office of Legal Counsel, Dr. Jaise Kuriakose – Lecturer- University of Manchester, Prof. M. Nirmalan - Research Explorer - University of Manchester, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim- University of Manchester, Dr. Osman Ouattara- University of Manchester. Dr. Jared.O. Mecha- University of Nairobi, Prof. Paul Mativenga- Engineering- University of Manchester and Professor David Polya- Faculty of Science- University of Manchester.

The Faculty members from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and the University of Manchester met at the UGBS Board Room the following day to assess mutual advantages and establish a framework for collaboration. Each of the institutions had a presentation on its international partnerships and student development initiatives while exploring additional opportunities for their students.
