Department of Accounting Faculty Participate in the Global Business and Economics Research Conference in Malaysia
The Department of Accounting at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), in collaboration with the School of Business and Economics (SBE), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organised the Global Conference on Business and Economics Research 2026 (GCBER 2026). It was held on 9th and 10th September 2026 at UPM in Malaysia. The conference brought together researchers and academics to share research findings and engage in discussions on emerging issues in business and economics research. Representing the Department of Accounting were three faculty members, Prof. Godfred Matthew Yaw Owusu, Prof. Francis Aboagye-Otchere and Dr. Rita Amoah Bekoe, who participated in the conference and presented their respective research papers.
Beyond their participation in the academic sessions, the faculty members held discussions with the management of the School of Business and Economics, UPM, on opportunities to deepen collaboration between the two institutions. The discussions explored areas including faculty engagement and student exchange programmes, with a view to creating further opportunities for academic and professional interaction between UGBS and UPM. The conference also ended on a high note for the Department of Accounting, with two of its faculty members taking top honours in their respective presentation categories.

Prof. Godfred Matthew Yaw Owusu was adjudged the Overall Best Presenter at GCBER 2026, in addition to being named Best Presenter in the Fintech, Green Finance and Risk track. Dr. Rita Amoah Bekoe also distinguished herself at the conference, emerging as the Best Presenter in the Capital Market, Stock Returns and Corporate Finance track. The awards placed the UGBS faculty members among the conference’s leading presenters and provided further recognition of the quality of research being presented by the Department at an international academic forum.
