Dean of UGBS, Prof. Justice N. Bawole speaks at the 2023 HR Outlook and Benchmarking Conference.
The Dean of the University of Ghana Business School, Prof. Justice N. Bawole was honoured as the Guest Speaker at the 2023 HR Outlook and Benchmarking Conference. The theme for the conference was “Beyond the Boundaries: Redefining HR in a Data-Driven World.” Held at the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM) Ghana, Prof. Bawole’s speech was on the topic “Insights into the statistical landscape and its implication for HR strategies.”
Addressing the audience, Prof. Bawole urged HR professionals to enhance their works with data for clarity and as evidence to be relatable. Emphasising the importance of reporting key business outcomes in alignment with organizational objectives, he highlighted how leveraging data can boost performance evaluation, foster trust, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. He noted that “the statistical landscape offers opportunities for HR professionals to elevate their strategies and contribute to their organisational success by harnessing data.”
Further, he launched the maiden edition of the HR Outlook and Benchmarking Survey Report, which was led and produced by Dr. Eric Afful-Dadzie, a senior lecturer at UGBS and the CEO of MData. The purpose of the Survey was to assess and analyse the state of human resource practices within organisations in Ghana and to benchmark against industry trends.
Presenting the key highlights of the survey, Dr. Eric Afful-Dadzie of the Department of Operations & Management Information System (OMIS), UGBS, spoke about the project history, methodology, objective, scope, HR activities and made recommendations for HR organisations. He also encouraged HR organisations to prioritise the findings of the research project and use it as a foundation for future organisational assessment, highlighting the six-month effort invested in finalizing the research project. Dr. Afful-Dadzie also led the comprehensive question-and-answer session.
Present also at the conference was the Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Hon. Bright Wireko-Brobby, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the conference. In his address, he commended the conference partners (CIHRM, KPMG, HR Network, and MData) for choosing a theme that resonates with the data-driven era. Hon. Wireko-Brobby encouraged HR professionals to view the conference as a call to action, igniting a passion for progress.
The conference concluded with a presentation of citations to all partners and individuals who contributed to the success of the 2022 Survey Report.
