UGBS Alumni Association Executives Pay Courtesy Visit to the Dean

On 26th March 2025, new executives of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Alumni Association visited the Dean, Prof. Justice Bawole, the meeting was held at the Dean’s office. The visit was to meet school management and discuss strategies for enhancing alumni engagement nationwide and ensuring sustained support for UGBS and its students. 

Prof. Bawole warmly welcomed the executives and acknowledged their leadership and commitment. He highlighted the school's growing student population and its partnerships with professional institutions, which provide students with exemptions for professional certifications. However, he noted that resource constraints remain a challenge due to the expansion. Prof. Bawole encouraged the executives to lead with enthusiasm and work collaboratively to build a vibrant alumni association. He also emphasized that year groups have significantly contributed to the school's development. Prof. Bawole urged them to use their positions to engage institutions with a strong UGBS alumni presence and to mobilize support for the school and its students.

Mr. David Okyere Nyarkoh, President of the Alumni Association, acknowledged that year groups often operate in silos but, if united, they could achieve more for UGBS. He expressed appreciation for the insights shared and hoped to implement strategies to strengthen alumni engagement. Mr. Nyarkoh also stressed the need to consolidate the alumni engagement platforms to unite all alumni, both nationally and internationally. 

Additionally, the Dean underscored the need to expand the Innovation Hub to cultivate entrepreneurial skills among students to enhance their employability. Also present at the meeting were Prof. Lily Yarney, Coordinator of Alumni Relations, Ms. Afia Benewaah Domfeh, Senior Administrative Assistant, Alumni Relations, and Ms. Saratu Salifu Assistant Registrar, along with Prof. Ernest Tweneboah-Koduah, Head of the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department, and Prof. Mohammed Amidu from the Accounting and Finance Department. 

Alumni executives in attendance included Mr. Emmanuel Quarshie (1st Vice President), Mr. Glen Konadu (General Secretary), Mr. Douglas Asiedu (Financial Secretary), Ms. Fati Osman Mohammed (Assistant Financial Secretary), Mr. Peter Kuntu-Blankson (Organizing Secretary), and Mr. Emmanuel Poku-Sarkodee (UGBS Representative).
