Emerald Edem S. Welbeck

Edem E. Sabah Welbeck is a Lecturer with the Department of Accounting, University of Ghana Business School. She holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Open Universiteit, Netherlands, an MPhil in Accounting, and a BSc. in Administration (Accounting option) from the University of Ghana. She had her secondary school education at OLA and Mawuli School, Ho.
 
Prior to joining the Business school, Edem lectured at Lancaster University (Ghana Campus) and the Professional school of Chartered Institute of Accountants, Ghana. She also lectured at Wisconsin University and Catholic Institute of Business and Technology (CIBT) where she was Ag. Head of the Business Administration Department and Ag. Academic Dean. She spearheaded the graduation of the first batch of students from the Institute.
 
Edem worked in Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) in various capacities including Retail banking, Accounts Division, Management accounts Department, Foreign banking and the Training school for seventeen years. She was once the secretary of the GCB National ladies executive committee and served on the board of the Ghana Women Fund.
 
She teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in financial and corporate reporting, sustainability reporting and auditing. Her research interests are in CSR, Sustainability Performance, Behavioural Accounting, Ethics, Accounting and Business Education and has published in various reputable journals.
