What a week it’s been at the University of Ghana Business School! If you were anywhere near campus this past week, you definitely felt the energy in the air. UGBS came alive for the 45th Management Week celebration, and this year’s edition was truly special. Spearheaded by the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department, the entire week centered around a powerful theme: “Marketing, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship as Catalysts for Success in a 24-Hour Economy".
From insightful discussions to fun outdoor games, the week had a little something for everyone. Here’s a quick recap of how things went down:
Monday: Breakfast with Alumni – Wisdom Served Hot.

UGBS Alumni, Class of 1994
Things kicked off on Monday, July 14th, with “Breakfast with Alumni”, hosted by the 1994 Year Group. Let’s just say the "item 13" wasn’t the only thing that left us full. We had the honour of learning from experienced alumni who once walked the same lecture halls we do now.
From Prof. Robert Ebo Hinson’s powerful talk on personal branding to Mr. William Kwasi Sabi’s inspiring story about discipline, character, and self-presentation, the session was loaded with real gems.
“I was really moved by Mr. William’s journey", shared Ama, a Marketing student. “It reminded me that staying true to myself, no matter the challenges, will eventually pay off ". Alumni like Dr. Frederick Kwesi Blay from the Bank of Ghana and seasoned banker Mr. Kobina Nyamekye Eshun also dropped valuable advice on purposeful networking and developing our soft skills.
And with the Q&A session? It was fire. The students were fully engaged, soaking in all the lessons. This was a perfect start to the week.
Tuesday: Colours, Brains & Bragging Rights.

UGBS Students Repping their Senior High Schools
Tuesday turned the campus into a colour party. "Rep Your School" Day had everyone donning their Senior High School attires with pride. We had students representing Abugiss, Pope Johns, Presec Legon, St. Monica's, St. Peters, Mfantsipim, and the rest.
The atmosphere was loud, fun, and competitive. Then came the Interdepartmental Quiz, and things got intense (in a good way). It wasn’t just about knowing your facts; it was about representing your department with confidence and teamwork.

At the final level, four departments faced off; Accounting Students Association (ASA), Marketing and Entrepreneurship Students Association (MESA), Insurance Students Association (ISA) and the Finance Students and Associates (FINSA). What started off promisingly for FINSA supposedly didn't end well; the Accounting Students Association, unsurprisingly, emerged first with 24 points.
Wednesday: Management Day – The Heart of the Week.

Professor Justice Bawole
This was the main event. Wednesday’s Management Day reminded us why we chose UGBS. From insightful speeches to impactful moments, the day highlighted how we, as future business leaders, can drive change through creativity and strategic thinking.
The conversations explored a range of topics; from entrepreneurship in Ghana’s current economy to the importance of adaptability in today’s job market. It was a true reflection of the vision and mission of UGBS.
We were also privileged to hear from distinguished speakers such as Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Ghana’s current Minister of Education; Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana; Professor Justice N. Bawole, Dean of the University of Ghana Business School; Nana Opoku Agyeman Prempeh, Co-founder and CEO of GrowForMe; and Nii Doodo Dodoo, Country Director of the British Council for Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon.
Friday: Business in the Morning, Movies in the Evening.
Friday started with an Entrepreneurship Summit, bringing together brilliant minds and rising student entrepreneurs. Under the theme “From Vision to Venture – Igniting Student Innovation", the summit was charged with energy and inspiration.
Even if you didn’t catch every talk, the energy and motivation all around was impossible to miss. Hearing real business ideas from student entrepreneurs even made it all the more encouraging.
And later in the evening? We had our Movie Night! The R.S Amegashie Auditorium transformed into a chill zone with popcorn, and good vibes all around. It was the perfect way to cool off after a busy week.
Saturday: Outdoor Games – We Move!

Management Week wasn’t all talk ; we made time for play too. Saturday was all about outdoor games, giving students a chance to loosen up and bond.
Whether you were there for the football match, the sack race, lime and spoon, kenkey party or just came to vibe with your crew, the energy was top-tier.
What Was Your Best Moment from Management Week?
Management Week wasn’t just about professional networking, brainy competitions, or pure enjoyment, it was a true celebration of everything UGBS stands for.
Now we want to hear from you: What stood out for you this week? Was it a speaker who changed your perspective, a quiz win that boosted your confidence, a selfie you snapped at movie night or the fun you had during the outdoor games?
