Roger Ayimbillah Atinga

Prof. Roger A. Atinga is an Associate Professor of Health Policy, Management and Systems Evaluation in the Department of Department of Health Services Management, University of Ghana. He holds a PhD in Public Health (Health Policy Planning and Management) and an MPhil in Health Services Administration. He has a wealth of teaching and research experience spanning a decade. His research is at the intersection of health policy and management, health supply chain, health insurance, implementation science and healthcare quality, drawing data from health providers, users, communities and secondary sources. He is a seasoned visiting Lecturer with the University for Development Studies, Ghana and Adjunct Faculty in Global Health Policy with the New York University. He has great experience in the design and implementation of qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method research, and the use of empirical data to support evidence-informed policy making. Prof. Atinga has consulted widely in several health research projects for Chemonics International Inc., Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM), the World Health Organisation (WHO), USAID, Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition, Ghana Integrity Initiative (a branch of transparency International), Ghana’s National Health Insurance Authority, and Ghana Coalition of Health NGOs among others. Prof. Atinga has provided technical support for: WHO programme on Building Resilient health System in the Ebola Affected countries; Ghana’s Ministry of Health primary healthcare policy review; and the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) annual stakeholder dialogue. He is a member of the Governing Boards of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), West Africa Network of Emerging Leaders (WANEL) of Health Policy and Practice, and Institute of Development Research (IDR). He has authored a monograph, several book chapters, and over 50 peer reviewed international journal articles. He participated in over 20 peer reviewed international conferences. He is an Editorial Board member of the International Journal of Quality and Reliability Managements and African Journal of Management Research. He is also Academic Guest Editor of Plos One, Founding Editor-in-Chief of African Journal of Health Management and Policy, and a reviewer of over 20 international journals.
