Aidatu Abubakari
Dr. Aidatu Abubakari is a Lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana Business School and the Takoradi City Campus of the University of Ghana. She holds a PhD in Marketing from the University of Ghana. Her research focuses on sustainability marketing, consumer behaviour, and digital innovation, with a particular interest in how marketing can address sustainability challenges in emerging economies.
Before joining UGBS, Dr. Abubakari held an academic leadership role as Head of the Department of Marketing and Human Resource Management at Wisconsin International University College, Ghana. She also taught at the Graduate School of Management in Abidjan.
She has published in leading international outlets such as International Marketing Review, International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology, International Journal of Quality and Service Sciences, and Society and Business Review. She has also contributed to book chapters and presented her work at international conferences. Dr. Abubakari was a Commonwealth Futures Climate Research Fellow (2023/2024 cohort), where she co-led a project on strengthening community-led innovations for climate resilience through formal planning systems. The project was funded by the British Council under the Commonwealth Futures Climate Research Fellowship.
Dr. Abubakari’s teaching philosophy centres on creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and academic excellence. At UGBS, she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in marketing and entrepreneurship, supervises student research, and contributes to curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
