Tomas Bata University Visits UGBS for Potential Collaborations

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) hosted a delegation from Tomas Bata University, Czech Republic, on 10th October 2024 at the UGBS Conference Room for potential collaborations. The delegation from Tomas Bata University was Dr. Ing. Michal Pilik, Dean of the Department of Finance and Accounting, Ing. Premysl Palka, Vice Dean for International Relations, Department of Finance and Accounting, Prof. Alex Ntsiful, Department of Management and Marketing and Prof. Michael Adu Kwarteng, Department of Management and Marketing. 

Prof. William Coffie, Head of the Department of Accounting, UGBS, represented the Dean of UGBS, Prof. Justice Bawole. He provided insight into the school's background, departments, programmes and student population. He informed the delegation that undergraduate students undertake a general programme in administration and specialise in their third year of studies. Prof. Coffie also highlighted UGBS' collaborations with other international academic institutions. 

Dr. Pilik also provided an overview of Tomas Bata University's faculty, departments, programmes and student population. He expressed interest in partnering with UGBS on student exchange programmes for master’s and PhD studies. He further stated that they can leverage the Erasmus Mundus Project which provides mobility support for students and faculty exchange programmes. Dr. Pilik also extended an invitation to UGBS to collaborate on joint publication efforts. 

Prof. Gordon Abekah-Nkrumah, Head of the Department of Health Services Management, expressed UGBS interest in cooperating with Tomas Bata University on virtual PhD masterclasses, PhD supervision, joint research and external thesis examination. He proposed signing a Memorandum of Understanding and an addendum to formalise the collaboration. 

Also in attendance for the discussion were Prof. Ernest Y. Tweneboah-Koduah, Head of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Eric Afful-Dadzie, Department of Operations & Management Information Systems, and Maureen E. Balogun, Senior Administrative Assistant, International Relations Unit at UGBS.
