APH Supplies Company Limited Awards Scholarships to 10 UGBS Accounting Students

The Department of Accounting at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has secured scholarship support for ten (10) Level 200 Accounting students through a partnership with APH Supplies Company Limited. The scholarship beneficiaries, accompanied by the Head of the Department of Accounting, Prof. Godfred Matthew Yaw Owusu, and Prof. Francis Aboagye- Otchere, visited the company's premises in Accra on 10th July 2026 to meet the Chief Executive Officers of APH Supplies Company Limited, Mr. Yaw Aduhene and Mrs. Maame Ama Anderson Aduhene.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Godfred Matthew Yaw Owusu explained that the initiative followed an earlier visit by the company's management to UGBS, during which he informed them about the department’s effort to supporting students and they expressed commitment to supporting brilliant but financially challenged students. He noted that the company has committed to sponsoring 10 students from the beginning. Prof. Owusu disclosed that 20 students were shortlisted and interviewed through a selection process, with 10 students ultimately chosen based on both their academic excellence and demonstrated financial need. He added that all the beneficiaries are first-class accounting students and that the scholarship will cover their tuition fees as well as provide a stipend throughout their studies.

Mrs. Maame Ama Anderson Aduhene stated that APH Supplies Company Limited decided to invest in the students because of its belief in their potential and future success. She encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity and, when they become successful, extend similar support to others in need. She further observed that supporting young people to achieve academic and professional success contributes to national development by reducing crime and other social challenges. Mr. Yaw Aduhene also announced that the company is willing to offer internship opportunities to the scholarship beneficiaries should they be interested. In response, Prof. Owusu welcomed the offer and assured the company's leadership that the students would take advantage of the opportunity to gain practical industry experience.

On behalf of the Department of Accounting and the beneficiaries, Prof. Aboagye- Otchere expressed sincere appreciation to the management of APH Supplies Company Limited for the generous gesture. He noted that financial challenges force some students to drop out of school, while others struggle to perform to their full academic potential. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity by maintaining academic excellence and making the company's investment worthwhile. He also urged them to emulate the generosity of the benefactors by supporting others when they are in positions to do so.
