Dr. Benjamin Amoah, FLEAG President, Engages Beneficiaries of UG Financial Aid on Personal Finance

Dr. Benjamin Amoah, Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and President of the Financial Literacy Educators Association Ghana (FLEAG), engaged beneficiaries of the University of Ghana Students' Financial Aid Office on the essentials of personal financial management. The session was held on 15th September 2025 at the UGBS Computer Laboratory. The event was organised by the Students' Financial Aid Office under the leadership of Ms. Selina Torrison Saaka. It was themed “Foundational Block of Personal Financial Management” and aimed at equipping students with financial knowledge and strategies to build sustainable wealth and make informed financial decisions. 

In his presentation, Dr. Amoah highlighted key aspects of personal finance, including financing, spending, saving, and investment. He explained the importance of optimising financial situations through effective planning and prudent decision-making. He also encouraged participants to assess their net worth and put in place essential financial safeguards such as durable powers of attorney, backup executors, deeds to properties, and trustees for important logins and passwords in the event of emergencies. 

Dr. Amoah further discussed cash flow management, employment benefits, and the pursuit of financial independence. He explained the concept of the time value of money, compounding, and their roles in wealth creation. He also touched on financial and real investments, risk management, and practical investment strategies that students could adopt. Additionally, he provided practical guidance on how to approach taxation effectively. The interactive session gave beneficiaries the opportunity to gain deeper insights into financial literacy, with tips on financial planning for future security and success.
