1994 Alumni Group Visit UGBS, Pledges Support

On 1st November 2024, the 1994 Alumni Group of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) paid a courtesy visit to their alma mater, intending to give back to the school. The group’s visit to the Dean’s Office was to identify the school's needs and provide support. 

Prof. Justice Bawole, Dean of UGBS, warmly welcomed the alumni and shared the school's progress since their graduation. He indicated UGBS's increased student population and faculty members, diverse programmes offered, and affiliations with professional institutions offering students professional certification opportunities. Prof. Bawole emphasised UGBS's commitment to enhancing student entrepreneurship and innovation. However, he noted that the school faces resource constraints due to its expanding student body. Prof. Bawole further urged alumni to provide internship opportunities for its students. He showed gratitude for alumni support, citing its significance in enhancing the school's quality. 

Mr. Paul Okyere, Internal Auditor, Bank of Ghana (1994 alumnus), observed significant changes since his graduation and conveyed the 1994 alumni’s intentions to support the school. He requested information on specific needs to provide targeted support. Prof. Bawole therefore outlined specific needs and expressed UGBS's appreciation and contentment for any assistance that would be given. Mr. Okyere assured the group's commitment to providing the necessary support to the school to facilitate quality learning. 

Mr. Yaw Tsen Yeboah, UGBS Assistant Registrar, HR, spoke about how UGBS would protect and preserve whatever support that would be provided. He also provided information on the contributions of other alumni year groups. Dr. George Acheampong, Coordinator for the UGBS Innovation and Incubation Hub also spoke about the lecture hall sizes and how to furnish them to enhance learning experiences. He took Mr. Okyere on a tour of the Innovation Hub, showcasing its facilities and initiatives. Also, in attendance at the meeting was Ms. Afia Benewaah Domfeh, Senior Administrative Assistant, Alumni Relations.
