Accra Technical University Explores Collaborative Opportunities with University of Ghana Business School

On Friday, 4th October 2024, the Accra Technical University (ATU) paid a courtesy visit to the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) to explore potential collaboration opportunities, particularly in graduate studies management.  The meeting was held at the UGBS Dean’s Office with the ATU delegation: Prof. Frank Frimpong Opuni, Dean of Graduate School and Associate Professor in Social Marketing, and Ms. Martha Boraparte, Senior Administrative Assistant of Graduate School. 

The Dean of University of Ghana Business School, Prof. Justice Nyigmah Bawole, gave an overview of the graduate school, including programmes and admission processes. He stated that UGBS prioritises research and capacity building for its lecturers. In view of this, the school provides incentives and support systems to develop relevant and engaging research and teaching approaches to enhance knowledge sharing with students. Prof. Bawole also discussed the implementation of monitoring and evaluation to foster commitment to programmes, promote accountability, and drive continuous improvement. He further revealed the approval for fully virtual programmes specifically for foreign students.  

Prof. Opuni expressed interest in leveraging the expertise and resources of UGBS on research initiatives and knowledge sharing to enhance graduate studies and research output at ATU. Ms. Boraparte also sought to gain insight into UGBS's administrative operations. 

Prof. William Coffie, HoD for the UGBS Department of Accounting, urged Prof. Opuni to ensure equal attention to all programmes and create a conducive environment for their students. Prof. Ernest Y. Tweneboah-Koduah, HoD for the Department of Marketing, UGBS, also sought information about the various programmes run at ATU and offered advice for further improvements.
