University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Hosts a Delegation from the University of Duisburg- Essen to Discuss Opportunities for Partnership

On Monday, 2nd September 2024, the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) welcomed distinguished delegates from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, to explore potential collaboration and partnership. The meeting marked an important step towards a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions.


Prof. William Coffie, Head of the Department of Accounting at UGBS, who served as the Acting Dean, provided an overview of the school’s facilities, including its student body, faculty structure, and academic programmes. Prof. Coffie highlighted the well-equipped library and various resources available to students and faculty.


Prof. Erwin Amann, Dean of the Faculty for Business Administration and Economics at University of Duisburg-Essen, in his response, expressed admiration for UGBS’s achievements and competence. He shared insights into his institution's structure and emphasised their eagerness to collaborate with UGBS on joint research and academic exchanges.


Prof. Karen Shire, Vice-Rector for University Culture, Diversity, and International Affairs at University of Duisburg-Essen also expressed their interest in exchange programmes at the MA, PhD, and post-doctoral levels. 


The University of Duisburg-Essen’s team indicated that they received the final copies of the Memorandum of Understanding on Friday 30th August 2024 and will follow up after their return to Germany.


The meeting concluded with enthusiasm from the UGBS team members, who expressed eagerness to build a productive partnership with the University of Duisburg-Essen.
