Cletus Agyenim-Boateng

Dr. Cletus Agyenim-Boateng is a Chartered Certified Accountant. He holds a PhD degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Manchester Business School and a Masters degree in International Development, Development Finance option (with merit), from the University of Manchester’s Institute for Development Policy and Management (IDPM). In addition, he has a first class Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting option, from the University of Ghana Business School and has a Certificate in Professional Ethics.

Until June, 2009, Cletus worked in the private and voluntary sectors. Between October, 2004 and June, 2009, Cletus worked with Richards Group International, Manchester Office, initially as an accounting officer and later as an accountant. During this time, Cletus was responsible for a number of finance and accounting activities. The key tasks that he was involved in included: supervising end of year financial report preparations, doing bank and other reconciliations, carrying out budgeting and financial planning, and liaising with tax authorities.

As a volunteer, Cletus worked with OXFAM, UK, from July, 2006 to October, 2007, where he collated and compiled weekly sales and banking reports for two Manchester OXFAM shops; audited banking slips, petty cash transactions and cash donations; and carried out banking reconciliations; filed shop returns with the Regional Head Office.

Cletus has substantial experience in teaching accounting, finance and related disciplines. He has taught in both college and university settings and he proudly admits to be very much enthralled and challenged by how knowledge is shared, imparted and learning is experienced. Before his appointment as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Ghana Business School, he worked at the University of Manchester Business School, where, as a seminar leader and a graduate teaching assistant, he taught financial reporting and accountability, and management accounting to undergraduate students.

Dr. Cletus Agyenim-Boateng is a co-founding director of the Institute for Policy Performance and Dialogue (IPPaD), and the Centre for Accountability, Governance and Development (CfAGaD). Also, he was a director at Universal Capital, financial NGO, in-charge of Controls, Financial Reporting and Compliance until July, 2013. In addition, he is a member of: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA).
