UGBS Management Visits Former Deans to Strengthen Institutional Ties
A delegation from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), led by the Dean, Prof. Ernest Tweneboah-Koduah, has visited two former Deans of the School as part of efforts to strengthen its connection with past leaders and draw on their experience and institutional knowledge. The visits, which took place over the past two weeks, were made to Mr. Stephen Takyi-Asiedu, who served as Dean of UGBS from 2007 to 2010, and Prof. Kofi Nti, who served as Dean from 2002 to 2007.
The visits form part of an initiative by the UGBS School Management Committee to maintain relationships with former Deans, particularly those who have retired from active service. The initiative provides an opportunity for the school’s current leadership to reconnect with its former leaders, recognise their contributions to the institution and sustain their connection with its activities. According to the dean, former Deans bring a wealth of institutional experience from their years of service, having led the school at different stages of its development. Maintaining contact with them provides an avenue for UGBS to draw on this experience and preserve knowledge of the decisions, experiences and developments that have shaped the institution over the years. The engagements also reflect the importance of continuity in the administration of the school. Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah explained that while leadership responsibilities change over time, maintaining relationships across successive administrations can help preserve institutional memory and strengthen the connection between the school’s history and its future direction.

For UGBS, the initiative offers a way to recognise the contributions of former leaders beyond their respective tenures and keep them connected to the institution they once led. It also reinforces the role of institutional relationships in sustaining a shared commitment to the school’s continued development. The delegation included Prof. Ernest Tweneboah-Koduah, Dean of UGBS; Prof. Mahmoud Abdulai Mahmoud, Head of the Department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship; Prof. Godfred Matthew Owusu, Head of the Department of Accounting; Prof. James Kwame Mensah, Head of the Department of Public Administration; Prof. Eric Afful- Dadzie; Head of the Department of Operations and Management Information Systems (OMIS), Dr. Majoreen Osafroadu Amankwah from the Department of Organisation and Human Resource Management (OHRM); Prof. Mohammed Amidu, Department of Accounting; Mr. Emmanuel Poku-Sarkodee, School Administrator; Ms. Saratu Salifu, Assistant Registrar- General Administration and Mr. David Tetteh Odjeawo, the UGBS Liberian.
