
UGBS Alumni Association Holds Handover Ceremony
The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Alumni Association held a handing-over ceremony on 31st January 2025 at the Executive Hall, UGBS. The event was moderated by the School Administrator, Mr. Emmanuel Poku-Sarkodee, who also introduced the newly elected executives. The ceremony was chaired by Prof. William Coffie, Head of the Department of Accounting.
Prof. Coffie commended the alumni for their continuous support towards the school in the form of donations, scholarships, and professional networking. He also elaborated the importance of their contributions in shaping the future of young students and noted that the economy is largely driven by business school graduates, as many financial institutions are staffed with professionals trained at the University of Ghana Business School.
The outgoing President of the Alumni Association, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, highlighted the achievements of his tenure, which included the production of a documentary aired on GTV and the introduction of a chocolate product under the Association’s name. He also provided an overview of the Association’s fundraising efforts, which have supported student initiatives, the school, and internal award ceremonies. Dr. Ofosu-Asare led the gathering in a minute of silence in honour of the late Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo, CEO of KAMA Groups and a distinguished alumnus of UGBS. He encouraged the incoming executives to sustain the yearly award ceremonies and strengthen collaboration with the school’s secretariat. He further urged them to build connections with alumni abroad and announced the launch of an alumni tracking app, which allows members to update their details. He advised outgoing executives to remain engaged with the Association even after leaving office and expressed gratitude to UGBS management for their support during his tenure. He subsequently swore in the new executives, inducting them into office. The executives are;

The newly elected President, Mr. David Okyere Nyarkoh, expressed appreciation to the alumni community and his predecessors for their contributions. He pledged to continue working towards the Association’s objectives and called on all members to support its initiatives.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Coffie reiterated the school’s reliance on alumni support for infrastructural development. He urged members to continue their contributions, while Mr. Poku-Sarkodee encouraged them to use their positions to lobby and influence institutions and individuals that can support the school and its students.
Several goodwill messages were delivered to the newly elected executives. Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority also encouraged all members to excel in their respective roles. The event concluded with the recognition of outgoing executives, who were honoured with citations for their service to the Association.
