Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor Ranked No. 1 Scientist in Economics and Finance in Ghana for the 2026 Research.com Rankings

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) proudly celebrates Prof. Joshua Yindenaba Abor of the Department of Finance and former Dean, following his recognition as the number one economist in Ghana in the 2026 edition of the global Best Scientist Ranking by Research.com. Prof. Abor had 13272 citations with 212 publications. According to the fourth edition of Research.com’s annual ranking published on 15th April 2026; Prof. Abor is ranked 1st in Ghana and 1627th globally out of the over 3,800 scientist profiles reviewed in the field of Economics and Finance. In addition to this achievement, he has been honoured with the 2026 Research.com Economics and Finance Leader Award in Ghana, recognising his significant contributions to research and scholarship in the discipline.

The ranking is based on the D-index (Discipline H-index), which measures a researcher’s academic output and citation impact strictly within their area of specialisation. Only scholars with a minimum D-index of 30 are considered, making the recognition a mark of sustained excellence and influence in Economics and Finance. Prof. Abor’s achievement reflects the growing global visibility of research at UGBS and underscores the School’s commitment to advancing knowledge that shapes policy, business, and economic development in Ghana and beyond.

The Research.com Best Scientists Ranking is a global initiative that identifies top researchers based on bibliometric data and academic impact. The 2026 edition, which is the fourth in the series, draws on data from leading academic databases such as OpenAlex and CrossRef. To enhance accuracy and credibility, all profiles included in the rankings are manually verified, with publication and citation records cross-checked against multiple trusted academic sources. Only researchers within the top 1% globally in their discipline are included.
