PASAL Town Hall Meeting: Lecturer-Student Engagement

The Public Administration Students Association- Legon (PASAL) had an engagement session with lecturers to discuss the need to study Public Administration and other issues of concern among students at the R. S Amegashie Auditorium on Wednesday, 29th November 2023.
The event which was dubbed, “The Lecturer- Student Engagement Programme” comprised three insightful sessions. The first session tackled graduation requirements, job opportunities, and the art of crafting a compelling CV. The second session focused on honing skills for Public Administration professionals and adapting to the dynamic job market. The final discussion centred on innovation and entrepreneurship. The event commenced with the objective of the meeting delivered by the PASAL President, Emmanuel Yetsinu.
Setting the pace for the discussion, Dr. Daniel Appiah, Academic Advisor for Public Administration (level 300 and 400) students, addressed issues related to results releases, controversies, and the student handbook's regulations. He emphasised the importance of understanding the duration of students' studies, credit hours, and the grading system, urging students to strive for their career ambitions.

Mr. Charles Owusu, from the College of Humanities Academic office, continued the next session with discussions on the essence of early registration, how to seek help regarding registration and about supplementary exams. He also advised the students to always seek assistance, emphasising the availability of the Academic Office to assist students whenever needed.
Prof. Lily Yarney, an Associate Professor at the Department of Health Service Management, shared valuable advice on on-campus relationships, urging students to foster healthy friendships, prioritise effectively, and maintain a positive social and professional demeanour. She highlighted the importance of good grooming and emphasised on qualities such as politeness, hard work, honesty, responsibility, organisation, and punctuality.

Dr. Emmanuel Ayisi, from the Department of Public Administration, also focused on essential skills for aspiring public administration professionals, including problem-solving, analytical, communication, technological, and emotional skills.

Ending the event, the students had the opportunity to ask questions for clarification and the lecturers provided answers.
