Two UGBS Faculty Members Promoted to the Rank of Associate Professors

The University of Ghana Council, at its meeting held on 9th September 2025, has approved the promotion of two faculty members at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) to the rank of Associate Professor. The appointees are Prof. Sheena Lovia Boateng, Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, and Prof. Teddy Ossei Kwakye, Department of Accounting. 

Prof. Sheena Lovia Boateng is the coordinator of the Executive MBA and Weekend MBA Marketing programmes at UGBS. She holds doctoral and undergraduate degrees in Marketing from the University of Ghana and is celebrated as the first female professor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana. She is also the first female Professor in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at UGBS. Her research covers six main areas: Behavioural Marketing, Influencer Marketing, Fashion and Beauty Marketing, Artificial Intelligence and Entrepreneurship, Educational Technology and Learner Engagement, and Gender and Digital Platforms. 

Prof. Boateng has developed influential conceptual frameworks, including the LEARN Model, rooted in African symbolism, and the DEQ framework for integrating generative AI into education. Her work has been widely published in reputable journals, including the International Journal of Bank Marketing, Information Development, Journal of Financial Services Marketing, Smart Learning Environments, and Journal of Educational Technology Systems. She currently serves as an Associate Editor for Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, a Springer Nature journal, and is also the founder of the Women in Tertiary Education (WITE) Network, dedicated to supporting women in academia. 

Prof. Teddy Ossei Kwakye has been with the Department of Accounting since 2011 and has taught across diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programmes. His teaching portfolio includes Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Advanced Corporate Reporting, Managerial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, and Auditing and Assurance. His research focuses on strategic management accounting, corporate governance, corporate reporting, social and environmental reporting, accounting education, and behavioural accounting. He applies panel data analysis and other quantitative techniques to address accounting and business management issues. Prof. Kwakye has published in reputable international journals and serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for several of them. The UGBS community congratulates Prof. Sheena Lovia Boateng and Prof. Teddy Ossei Kwakye on their well-deserved promotions.
