UGBS Holds Meeting to Strategise on AACSB Accreditation
On the 13 th of June 2024, the Dean of UGBS, Prof. Justice N. Bawole, the AACSB Committee Members, and the School Management Committee convened at the UGBS Graduate Building to strategise on meeting the AABS accreditation standards. The meeting in the boardroom focused on addressing key concerns and ensuring the application of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business adheres to the requirements.
Prof. Elikplimi Komla Agbloyor, Department of Finance, emphasised the essence of learning to understand the requirements and processes of the accreditation. He highlighted that understanding the requirements thoroughly is crucial to avoiding disqualification. Discussions from the team included the role and structure of the Executive Education programme, which provides both degree and short-course options for individuals.
Again, a significant concern discussed was the need for a separate audit account to ensure financial independence. Prof. Bawole underscored the graduate school's unique model of collecting tuition fees and managing its finances independently, which supports sustainability and the introduction of new programmes every two years. Quality assurance and continuous improvement were also key discussion points.
The discussions were highly engaging and productive and concluded with a commitment to ensure all programmes remain accredited and continuously enhance students' learning experiences.
