
UGBS Holds Handing Over Ceremony to Welcome New Dean, Prof. Ernest Yaw Tweneboah-Koduah
The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) held a handing over ceremony to officially transition leadership from the outgoing Dean, Prof. Justice Nyigmah Bawole, to the newly appointed Dean, Prof. Ernest Y. Tweneboah-Koduah. The ceremony took place at the R. S. Amegashie Auditorium on 31st July 2025. Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah is a professor of Social Marketing and Behaviour Change at the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, and his appointment is effective 1st August 2025.
Delivering his remarks, Prof. Bawole expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve and reflected on the journey of his six-year tenure, marking a significant milestone, as he has completed two full terms. He spoke about the peaceful and harmonious environment in which he led the school. He acknowledged faculty and staff for their unwavering support, stating, “You journeyed with me in such a peaceful environment, keeping togetherness, and that contributed immensely to my success.” Prof. Bawole also outlined some of the achievements during his administration, including the successful recruitment of new faculty and staff members, infrastructure enhancement, and numerous academic promotions. He encouraged members of the school community to extend their full support to the new Dean and remain committed to their roles.
“UGBS has great potential. If we hold each other accountable, there is a lot more we can accomplish,” he stated. He further recognised the instrumental support of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, former and current Provosts of the College of Humanities; Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori and Prof. Joseph A. Yaro, the School Administrator, Mr. Emmanuel Poku-Sarkodee and Heads of Department across UGBS in advancing his vision. He also urged Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah to lead with vision, clarity of purpose, and a focus on continuous progress to take the Business School to greater heights.

In his remarks, Prof. Ernest Tweneboah Kodua expressed appreciation to his predecessors for steering the school with excellence, foresight, and dedication. He specifically commended Prof. Bawole for his leadership marked by integrity, innovation, and infrastructural development. He also acknowledged the other contenders for the Dean position, commending their decision to offer their support. “I will be meeting with some identified groups within UGBS for more input to shape the vision and run the school effectively,” he disclosed.
Prof. Tweneboah-Kodua assured the UGBS community of his openness and commitment to inclusive leadership. “Your belief in my leadership gives me strength and renewed commitment. I do not take that for granted,” he said. “I assure you that I will remain accessible and responsive to our collective interests.” He further called on faculty and staff for their ideas, energy, commitment, and feedback to ensure the successful running of the school. Speaking to the student body, Prof. Kodua reiterated his commitment to prioritising their holistic development. “We will focus not only on transforming minds but also shaping futures,” he affirmed.
As part of the ceremony, awards were presented to deserving faculty and staff members in recognition of their exceptional support and contributions to the University of Ghana Business School’s development and vision.
