
UGBS Faculty and Staff Win 8 Awards at the 4th College of Humanities Awards Ceremony
The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) faculty and staff excelled at the 4th College of Humanities (CoH) Awards Ceremony, held on 14th August 2025 at the Cedi Conference Centre Auditorium. The event organised under the auspices of the Provost of the College of Humanities, Prof. Joseph A. Yaro, honoured dedicated faculty, staff, and stakeholders whose contributions continue to drive the College’s vision.
UGBS distinguished itself by winning eight (8) awards across various categories:
1. Best Researcher Award (Male) – Prof. Joshua Y. Abor
2. Provost Special Award (Distinguished Service and Leadership) – Prof. Daniel Ofori, Immediate Past Provost
3. Exceptional Service (Chairmanship and Fundraising) – Dr. Sheena Lovia Boateng, Chairperson, 4th CoH Awards Planning and Organising Committee
4. Most Promising Early Career Researcher (Male) – Dr. Divine Quase Agozie
5. Best Worker – Senior Member Administrative/Professional Category (Overall Winner)– Mr. Alex Nii Than Crabbe, Accountant
6. Best Worker – Senior Staff Category (Runner Up) – Mr. Edward Atakora Agyekum, Principal Administrative Assistant
7. Best Worker – Senior Staff Category (Runner Up) – Ms. Mary Appah Larbi, Principal Administrative Assistant
8. Best Worker – Junior Staff Category (Runner Up) – Mr. Ernest Opoku, Senior Messenger Cleaner .
In his address, the Provost of the College of Humanities, Prof. Joseph A. Yaro, expressed appreciation to all faculty and staff, describing the awards ceremony as “a moment of recognising service, excellence, and endurance in developing the College.” He emphasised the need to acknowledge the tireless efforts of faculty and staff and assured that next year’s edition would be bigger.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Gordon A. Awandare, reiterated that the awards ceremony seeks to celebrate members of the college community whose contributions are critical to institutional growth. He stated that recognising staff and faculty aligns with the University of Ghana’s strategic pillars and described the event as a platform to showcase and appreciate the contributions of those who often work behind the scenes.
Prof. Awandare also encouraged those who did not receive awards, assuring them that “only one person may be awarded, but next year could be your turn.” In his closing remarks, he stressed that the recognition given to the awardees represents the collective efforts of all hardworking faculty and staff across the college. He further commended Prof. Yaro for his inclusive leadership and urged staff to increase their passion, hard work, and commitment towards achieving more development for the College and the University.
