UGBS Engages Dr. Kwame O. Adu-Gyamfi of Rutgers University on Collaboration Opportunities
The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) had a meeting with Dr. Kwame O. Adu-Gyamfi of Rutgers Business School, USA to explore opportunities for institutional collaboration on 19th March 2026. Dr. Adu-Gyamfi was received by Prof. Elikplimi K. Agbloyor, Coordinator of the UGBS International Relations Unit, and Prof. Lily Yarney, Head of the Department of Health Services and Management to discuss potential partnerships in student and faculty exchanges, research, and academic development.
Welcoming the guest, Prof. Agbloyor outlined the mandate of the International Relations Unit, emphasising its role in building global partnerships and facilitating academic exchanges. He highlighted some of the school’s international networks, including the Global Network for Advanced Management, as well as existing collaborations with universities across the world. He further elaborated on the different student exchange programmes available within the University of Ghana, including specially designed short-term programmes that combine academic coursework with cultural immersion for international students. Prof. Agbloyor reiterated that UGBS remains open to both faculty and student exchanges as part of its commitment to internationalisation.
Dr. Adu-Gyamfi expressed his strong interest in establishing a lasting partnership with UGBS, noting his willingness to support initiatives that will enhance academic and professional opportunities for students and faculty. He also shared his personal motivation to reconnect with Ghana, describing the engagement as both professionally and culturally significant. According to him, a UGBS student had previously applied to one of his programmes, reinforcing his confidence in the quality of students produced by the school. He noted that the proposed collaboration could create pathways for scholarships, student exchanges, internships, and broader networking opportunities. Dr. Adu-Gyamfi further indicated his readiness to facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations across different units within Rutgers University, thereby expanding the scope of engagement beyond a single department.

As Head of the Department of Finance and Economics and Director of the Master of Financial Analysis Programme at Rutgers Business School, he highlighted his mandate to expand the school’s one-year master’s programme by attracting top talent from across the globe. He noted that the programme currently hosts students from diverse countries, including China, Korea, India, Bangladesh, and Ecuador. He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with UGBS and reiterated his commitment to advancing discussions towards a formal partnership. Prof. Yarney, on her part, assured Dr. Adu-Gyamfi of the School’s readiness to foster a smooth and mutually beneficial partnership. She proposed the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise the collaboration, a suggestion that was warmly welcomed by Dr. Adu-Gyamfi. The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to work towards the development and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to solidify the collaboration between UGBS and Rutgers Business School.
