UGBS Holds Orientation for New Faculty Members
The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) held an orientation session for new faculty members on 21st November 2024 at the Graduate Campus. This session was to ensure a smooth transition into their roles. The Dean of UGBS, Prof. Justice Bawole welcomed the new lecturers expressing appreciation for joining the UGBS community.
Prof. Bawole assured them of a supportive environment for academic and publication pursuits. He mentioned that he would hold them accountable for their mandated responsibilities as lecturers according to the school’s policies. He encouraged them to participate actively in school, faculty and departmental meetings and further urged them to be professional towards students.
Mr. Yaw Tsen Yeboah, Assistant Registrar, HR, gave an overview of the school's policies, code of conduct, procedures for appointment and promotion and organisational structure. He advised the lecturers to understand their contract and access resources and privileges provided accordingly. Mr. Emmanuel Opoku Sarkodee, School Administrator, presented on ‘Overcoming Role Conflict in Organisations’, emphasising the importance of cooperation and effective communication among colleagues. He urged them to understand their colleagues, co-exist and co-operate on projects and treat students fairly. Mr. Sarkodee cautioned them not to expose vital and confidential information when assigned to committees. He also advised them to use the appropriate channels to resolve issues.
The new faculty members were Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, Department of Public Administration, Dr. Hanan Yakubu, Department of Operation and Management Information System and Dr. Richard Amankwa, Department of Accounting. Joining the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship were Dr. Edward Entee, Dr. Matilda Adams and Dr. Victoria Mann. Also, Dr. Mohammed Jabir, Dr. Baah Aye Kusi and Dr. Daniel Ofori Sasu have joined the Department of Finance. Dr. Millicent Wiafe-Kwagyan and Mr. Emmanuel Broni-Bediako have also joined the Department of Organisational and Human Resource Management.
