University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) holds an Orientation Session for 2024\2025 Undergraduate Students
The University of Ghana Business School held an orientation session for all level 100 students on Saturday, 20th January 2023, at the R.S. Amegashie Hall. The freshmen who have gained admission to enrol in Bachelor of Science in Administration (BSc) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) for the 2024\2025 academic year were welcomed and ushered into UGBS by Prof. Mohammed Amidu of the Department of Accounting. Prof. Mohammed Amidu inaugurated the event on behalf of the Dean of UGBS, Prof. Justice Bawole while Mr. Yaw Tsen Yeboah, the Assistant Registrar, Human Resources also moderated the event.
During the session, various officers and facilitators outlined their roles to guide the freshmen in adapting to campus life. Ms. Marjorie Celestina Quist, Assistant Registrar of Academics, shared essential information about the school, including course offerings, registration processes, and communication channels. Emphasising the significance of checking emails, the school's website, and the newly introduced ChatUGBS for updates, she highlighted resources like Course Advisors, the Mentoring and Students Services Unit, the school library, and computer labs. Dr. George Acheampong, Coordinator for the UGBS Innovation and Incubation Hub, shed light on the hub's functions and benefits, emphasising its role in nurturing student ideas into viable businesses.
The orientation featured presentations by the seven UGBS departments, clarifying course concepts and job prospects. Students were encouraged to pursue internships for hands-on experiences and skill development. Mr. David Odjeawo, the school librarian, stressed the importance of utilising the library for academic growth.
Mr. Senanu Tetteh Akakpo, Acting President of the Business House Junior Common Room, further extended a warm welcome, urging students to prioritise knowledge acquisition, participate in extracurricular activities, and build networks for personal development. He emphasised exhibiting professionalism in dressing and attitudes towards each other.
