Alumni of the Month – January: Surveyor Nutifafa Kojo Asare

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) proudly recognises Surveyor Nutifafa Kojo Asare as the Alumni of the Month for January. Surveyor Asare is a distinguished professional in the fields of land economy, valuation, and development finance, with contributions in academia, industry, and community service. He obtained a Master of Science in Development Finance from UGBS. 

His educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Land Economy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2010. He further pursued a Graduate Diploma in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation from the International Institute for Geo-Information Science & Earth Observation (ITC), University of Twente in 2014. He enrolled for a master’s in real estate Asset Management at the University of Manchester’s School of Education, Environment and Development. He is currently a PhD candidate in Property Studies at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. 

Surveyor Asare holds Professional Memberships with the Ghana Institution of Surveyors, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (UK) as a Registered Valuer, the Chartered Institute of Development Finance (South Africa), and the Chartered Institute of Management Consultants (Canada). He is also a Professional Associate of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (USA) and a Risk Analyst Fellow of the Global Academy of Finance and Management (USA). Notably, he was a recipient of the 2021 FIG Grant, a recognition of his expertise in the field. 

Surveyor Asare’s career began at the Tema Development Corporation (now TDC Ghana Limited) in 2010 as an Estate Assistant. Over the years, he has served in various capacities, including Estate Officer in Charge of Institutional and Commercial Lands, a Land Acquisition Committee member, and a Deputy Sectional Head who played a key role in establishing the organisation’s Geographic Information System (GIS) office. His professional engagements also include roles as a Land Consultant for Sunon Asogli Power Ghana Limited and Lead Valuation Surveyor for Finest Oil Ghana Limited. 

Beyond his professional duties, Surveyor Asare is deeply involved in institutional and community development. He has actively contributed to the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS), serving on its Finance Committee (2018–2019) and playing a pivotal role in securing a seat for the Young Surveyors Network (YSN) on the GhIS Governing Council. His dedication to youth mentorship is evident through his participation in career guidance sessions at Akosombo International School, his alma mater, where he was recognised as the best student in Economics for his year group. 

His community service extends to being an executive member of the Peki Wudome Development Council and a key figure in alumni engagements, having served as Secretary of the KNUST Alumni Tema Chapter (2010–2015). Additionally, he currently holds leadership positions with the RICS Ghana Matrics Board and serves as an Assessor for the RICS Regional Mentorship Programme.
