UGBS Student Crowned Miss Malaika 2019

A 19-year-old Level 300 Student of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Miss Phylis Vesta Boison, has been crowned the winner of the 2019 Miss Malaika Beauty Pageant. She beat nine other contestants to clinch the enviable crown and also took along the ultimate prizes of a car, cash, a trip to Dubai, and other goodies from sponsors of the event.

Miss Boison is a former student of Holy Child (Senior High) School in Cape Coast and is currently reading Accounting major in UGBS. The competition, which spanned thirteen weeks, started in July 2019. After preliminary auditioning that saw over 300 ladies during the process, twenty-six of them were shortlisted across the country for a bootcamp, after which sixteen ladies were chosen for the competition. The final event, which took place at the National Theatre on 2nd November 2019, saw ten ladies battle it out for the prestigious crown.

In all, four students from University of Ghana were among the final ten contestants, with two of them from UGBS. Miss Kimberly Ofosuhene, also a student of UGBS was among the top 5 finalists. The contestants took turns in various activities across three segments in the final event. The five finalists were made to answer questions on the humanitarian projects they would embark on, should they be crowned Miss Malaika. At the end of the day, Miss Boison was crowned the overall best contestant that saw her becoming Miss Malaika 2019. In her one year reign, Phylis will undertake a project as part of her queenly service to the nation.
