Mr. Richard Otu Agblom, a Graduate of the University of Ghana Business School with the Department of Public Administration and Health Services Management, has been adjudged the Best Graduating MBA Student for 2019/2020, and has been awarded the Frank Adu Jnr Prize by the Vice-Chancellor.
A Christian and a natural leader, Richard has held various leadership roles at various stages of his academic and Christian life. It is this exposure to the critical role of management and leadership in organisations and on the quality of people’s lives, particularly in healthcare, that influenced his decision to apply for the MBA Health Services Management programme at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS). This was to gain a deeper understanding in addressing management issues, with a special focus within the healthcare settings. He believes that the values of integrity and selflessness underpin excellence in any type of leadership that must make a positive impact on people’s lives.
Mr. Otu Agblom has an eye for excellence, applying analytical and critical thinking, as well as a meticulous and ordered approach to life which permeates his academic, business, and Christian activities. He hopes to pursue doctoral studies in a programme with emphasis Public Health Policy, Management and Governance. This is to equip him with the requisite knowledge and skills for research, health policy analysis, implementation, and advocacy, as well as efficient management and governance in the health sector with a passion to securing a healthy life for all. Thus, he has the ambition to impact positively in the local, international, and global public health leadership and governance.
Mr. Richard Otu Agblom had his basic education at the South Senchi L.A. Primary and Junior Secondary Schools in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region. Whiles there, he won the Best Student in the English Language within the District and graduated as one of the best students at the BECE. He is a product of Akropong Secondary Technical School at Odumase-Krobo as well as Presbyterian Training College (PTC), Akropong Akuapem where he also won the awards for the Overall Best Student as well as Best English student.
In 2007, Richard applied and gained admission to the University of Ghana to study Biological Sciences. He went on to graduate with a BSc. Medical Laboratory Science in 2011 from the School of Allied Health Sciences, Korle-Bu, afterward he enrolled in the MBA Health Services Management Programme at UGBS.
He is infinitely grateful to God, to his parents and eternally grateful to all his teachers and lecturers who have contributed to his life and made this honour possible.
