In a quest to provide students with the requisite skills needed to succeed in the world of work, the Department of Organisation and Human Resource Management (OHRM) of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) organised a two-session practical skills training for undergraduate students of the department, on Saturday, 27th August 2022. The training was facilitated by experts from OML Africa (Occupational Management Limited), an international Human Resource Management Consultancy with its head office in Ghana.
The programme began with the students being educated on the use of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), a platform used to collect and store data on an organisation's employees, like their name, address, age, salary, and benefits, among others. Furthermore, the students were taught how to write standard curriculum vitae. They were also taken through the dos and don’ts of interviews, as well as the avenues available to them to seek job opportunities.
Additionally, the students were given insight into the corporate world by the CEO/Founder of OML Africa, Ms. Anita Wiafe-Asinor. She indicated that the importance of 21st-century technical/digital skills in the use of the Human Resource Information System cannot be underrated. She further added that knowing the system gives a person a competitive advantage over others.
The training ended with a question-and-answer session followed by an interaction with the facilitators from OML Africa.
