As part of the Accounting Students Association (ASA) Week celebrations, a quiz competition was held for Accounting Students ‘Associations of three universities: University of Professional Studies- Accra (UPSA), the Accra Technical University (ATU) and the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS). The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) partnered with the Associations and had some officials present at the competition. The quiz which took place at the R. S. Amegashie Auditorium on the 10th of March 2020, was to test the students’ knowledge on taxation.
Contestants from UGBS ASA were in the persons of Andrew Essiaw, Delvin Addae and Vincent Tetteh; for UPSA, Bernard Asiedu Agyei, Bernard Obeng Addo and Alhassan Abubakar; and for ATU, Derrick Blankson, Bernard Kwasi Amoako and Ishmael Nartey.
Mr. Johnson Yankey, Chief Revenue Officer, Communications and Public Affairs Department of GRA handed the questions over to the quiz master who related the rules of the quiz to the contestants and wished them well. The quiz ended with the team from UGBS ASA reigning by 57points, the team from UPSA following with 41points and the team from ATU coming third with 33points.
Mr. David Lartey Quarcoopome, Chief Revenue Officer, Training Department at GRA, gave a speech to the students and advised them to do everything in their powers as upcoming accountants to help the vision of Ghana Beyond Aid. Cash prizes were then presented to all the teams and the gold cup was awarded to the UGBS ASA team by Mr. Yankey.
