On Wednesday, 3rd August 2022, some (2019) alumni of the Accounting Students Association (ASA) of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) paid a courtesy call on the Dean of the School, Professor Justice N. Bawole, to present laptops in support of the one-student-one-laptop initiative of the Business School.
In the Dean’s remarks, Prof. Bawole thanked the 2019-year group for the kind gesture and for giving back to their alma mater. He also expressed his appreciation to the former Head of Department (HOD), Accounting, Prof. Samuel N. Y. Simpson, for being in touch with the past students and doing the background work, as well as encouraging them to take this step.
Subsequently, Prof. Bawole spoke about four key things he always gave to alumni whenever they came around. He said to them, “execute yourself out there; pursue your career with diligence and make a lot of names; give space to our students for internships; and lastly, if God blesses you, come back and bless us as you have done." According to the Dean, the most significant contribution they could make to the school is to live with good standards and portray a good image, such that when references are been made to them and the school, it will be all good news.
Present at the meeting was the Head of Department (HoD), Accounting, Prof. William Coffie, the former Accounting HoD, Prof. Samuel N. Y. Simpson, as well as two current executives of ASA, and one alumnus from the 2021-year group.
