UGBS @ 60 - THE FUTURE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION IN GHANA: REFLECTING ON THE 60-YEAR EXPERIENCE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GHANA BUSINESS SCHOOL

UGBS Alumnus of the Month - August 2022

Mr. Andrew Akoto is an alumnus of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), who is currently a Partner at the accounting and professional services firm, KPMG Ghana. He leads   Advisory services at the firm and has primary responsibility over the Risk Consulting Unit of the firm. In this role, he takes leadership in providing Forensics, Information Technology Advisory services, and Governance, as well as Risk & Compliance services. He also doubles as the Financial Services (FSI) sector lead and Head of Markets in Ghana.

Mr. Akoto has garnered numerous experiences in advisory and audit assignments in both the private and public sectors over three decades of work with KPMG. He has 30 years of experience in corporate governance, project management, information security and investigations, financial management systems, performance improvement, risk management and internal audit. He has conducted management audits and applied risk management techniques and tools on business process reviews on engagements in a variety of industries and leads his team to provide various technology advisory services to clients.

His experience spans various industries including financial services, energy, mining, telecommunications, manufacturing industries, and government and donor-funded agencies. He has acted as a facilitator for training programmes for board members and for other training engagements for KPMG clients and the public.

Mr. Andrew Akoto is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), a Member of the Ghana Association of Restructuring and Insolvency Advisors (GARIA), and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA). He also holds an MBA in Banking and Finance from the Paris Graduate School of Management (2006).
