UGBS Alumna of The Month - December 2021

Ms Sheila Wristberg holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (Banking and Finance) from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) where she graduated with first class honours. Ms Wristberg is a Chartered accountant and holds a diploma in Insurance from the Ghana Insurance College.

She has over a decade’s experience in providing professional services to entities across industries in and outside Ghana. She has experience in risk management, insurance, audit, taxation and business development, and is currently the managing director of an insurance brokerage company in Ghana. She has worked for five years in a Big 4 firm, providing audit and non-audit accounting and tax services to clients spanning various sectors. She also has experience in marketing and business development.

Ms Sheila Wristberg has also worked as a Senior Tax Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers Ghana Limited (PwC), specialising in Tax Reporting Strategy to assist clients in best practice tax structuring and operations in Ghana and direct tax (mining). She also provided tax compliance and advisory services with respect to indirect taxes, corporate and personal income tax planning, corporate restructurings, due diligence assignments and tax audits for a portfolio of companies in the energy, mining, manufacturing and financial services sector.

Currently, Ms Wristberg is the Managing Director of iRisk Management Limited, an insurance brokerage and risk management consulting firm and has been responsible for the company’ growth strategy and operations since 2018. She improved the rankings of the company to become the number 6 brokerage firm out of over 100 firms in 2020. She is currently the Vice- Treasurer (elect) of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG) and joined the finance committee of the association in January 2021.

Ms Wristberg volunteers as the Director of Finance and Programmes of Institute of Energy and Climate Change Policy which is a non-profit think tank focused on energy, climate change and agriculture issues in Africa. She is an insurance advocate and has had several speaking engagements on the subject. She is also motorcycle enthusiast and advocate for motorbike road safety.
