Faculty Profile

Dr Seidu is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management, Performance Management, Public Sector Financial Management at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Legon, Accra. He holds a PhD in Strategic Human Resource Management, an MBA, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (ACLTHE), all from Aston Business School, Aston University in Birmingham, UK, and holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra. Dr Seidu’s works have been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Journal of Management. Some of his works have also been published as book chapters in Routledge, New York and the University of Ghana Reader. He has attended numerous conferences at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting and outside of Africa to present papers on his research work. He has consulted for a number of organizations in the public sector including the Ministries of Food and Agriculture, Health, the Local Government Service, National Ambulance Service, among others, in the areas of strategic Human Resource Management, Performance Management, and the development of a Strategic Plan and Scheme of Service. Dr Seidu has over fifteen years of Managerial experience in Human Resource Development and Management; General Administration and Public Policy Analysis, in the Ghanaian public sector. Indeed, he has worked in various Government Ministries including the Ministries of Roads and Highways, Food and Agriculture, Cabinet Secretariat at the Office of the President, and the Office of the Head of Civil Service all as a Deputy Director. He worked as Lecturer at GIMPA and as an Assistant Lecturer for three years at the Aston Business School, Aston University, in Birmingham UK, while pursuing his PhD course. He taught courses in Strategic Management, Organizational Behaviour, HRM, and Business Game, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Seidu is an Associate Member of the Higher Education Academy of England and a Member of the Beta Gamma Sigma the International honour society for Collegiate Schools of Business – Aston University Chapter. His current research interest is in the area of HRM, Leadership, Gender and Public Sector Performance Management issues.
