On Monday, 15th May 2023, the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) received a visit from Professor Mills Soko, a Professor of International Business and Strategy from the University of Witwatersrand Business School. The purpose of his visit was to explore potential partnerships and collaborations between the two esteemed institutions
In his remarks, Professor Mills Soko indicated that his visit was to explore diverse realms of collaboration such as having student exchange programmes. This, he added would assist to create an avenue for students from both institutions to expand their perspectives, immerse themselves in alternative academic environments and further foster cultural enlightenment.
Professor Soko also further indicated that such collaborations will assist in developing African-focused case studies which are aligned with the region's context. Additionally, he acknowledged the potential of offering PhD supervision, cultivating young talents across borders, and to foster a nurturing environment for their growth and development.
Welcoming the guest on behalf of the Dean of the Business School, Professor Albert Ahenkan, Head of the Department of Public Administration and Health Service Management underscored the fact the Business School is very keen on its internationalisation efforts. He emphasised the fact that internationalisation is well captured in the school’s strategic plan while stressing that the areas of collaboration that Professor Soko spoke about are well aligned to the key pillars of the Business School and its internationalisation agenda.
In a brief remark, Professor Gordon Abekah-Nkrumah, an Associate Professor from the Department of Public Administration and Health Service Management indicated the department’s enthusiasm about the partnership discussions. He indicated the willingness of his unit in offering expertise and commitment to the proposed partnership.
The meeting also had in attendance Mr. Emmanuel Poku-Sarkodee, the School Administrator, Dr Godfred Amewu, Senior Lecturer from the Finance Department and Mrs. Maureen E. Balogun from the International Relations Unit.
