University of Ghana Holds March 2023 Graduation Ceremony

A total of 1505 students at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Ghana (UG). These graduands were part of the over 11,000 students who graduated from UG at the recently held congregation ceremony for the College of Humanities at the Great Hall. The ceremony was part of the 13 sessions of congregation events which were held for five days.

Speaking at the ceremony Mrs. Mary Chinery-Hesse, Chancellor of UG expressed her sincere joy about the significance of the graduation ceremonies happening in the University's 75th anniversary year. The Chancellor also urged companies to collaborate with the university and support the three key initiatives by the University, which are one student – one laptop, classroom modernization, and the hot spot comfort zones.


In brief remarks, Professor Gordon A. Awandare, Pro-Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs congratulated the graduands for completing their studies. He further stated that scholarships have been awarded to over 500 students for the 2022–2023 academic year. He also indicated that UG is ranked number one in the 2022 econometric university rankings in Ghana.


The Guest Speaker, Dr. Maxwell Opoku Afari, the First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana in his address mentioned that the major reason for the event was to ensure that the graduates go out to the world of work and apply the knowledge they have acquired. He advised them to follow excellent work ethics, moral principles, and have perseverance as they advance to the next chapter of life. He further urged them to be driven by their visions, learn continuously, be patient and humble, value networking, and continuously serve others.
The ceremony for the College of Humanities BSc Administration congregation had Mr. Jacklord Agyabeng Amponsah, an accounting student who graduated at the top of his class with a 3.93 final grade point delivering the valedictory speech.
The Dean of UGBS, Professor Justice Nyimah Bawole, presented the graduands to the Chancellor for the confirmation of academic awards.

The ceremony had in attendance parents, guardians, and families of the graduates as well as members of the convocation among other.
